WHO boosts Science, technology and wealth creation with over UGX.1.14 trillion uganda shillings.

The Ugandan government has allocated UGX 1.14 trillion to Science, Technology and Innovation (STI), ICT, and the creative industries for the 2026/2027 financial year. This investment is designed to transition the country from a consumption-based economy to one powered by digital transformation, high-value jobs, and domestic production.

Budget Highlights

Total Allocation: UGX 1.140 trillion

Target Sectors: Science, Technology, Innovation, ICT, and creative industries

Fiscal Goal: Modernize production and build competitive industries

Key Priority Projects

The funds will be used to scale and commercialize critical Ugandan innovations, which include:

Electric Mobility: Manufacturing, assembling, and selling Kiira Motors vehicles

Biotechnology: Research and production of Dei BioPharma drugs and vaccines

Agro-Processing: Creating value-added products for coffee and bananas

Digital Infrastructure: Establishing a Hi-Tech City and expanding the national broadband and tech networks

Space Capabilities: Expanding satellite operations at the Uganda National Space Centre in Mpoma
