Uganda Airlines expands fleet with 10 more Boeing max passenger planes

Uganda Airlines has officially signed a Shs3.7 trillion ($985 million) agreement with Boeing to acquire 10 new aircraft, consisting of eight passenger planes and two cargo freighters. The landmark deal was finalized on June 10, 2026, at State House Entebbe in a ceremony witnessed by President Yoweri Museveni. This massive fleet expansion aims to double the carrier's capacity, resolve persistent operational disruptions, and transform Entebbe International Airport into a major East African aviation hub.

The 10-Aircraft Fleet Breakdown

While the order includes Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, it is actually a strategic blend of regional, long-haul, and dedicated cargo models:

4 × Boeing 737 MAX: Mid-range regional passenger jets deployed to secure the East and Central African feeder network.

4 × Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners: Wide-body, long-haul passenger aircraft assigned to expand international and intercontinental routes.

1 × Boeing 767 Converted Freighter: Dedicated wide-body plane to support large-scale international freight operations.

1 × Boeing 737-800 BCF: A regional cargo freighter to boost logistics and regional trade logistics.
