The Ugandan entertainment industry is in deep mourning following the tragic passing of veteran dancehall and ragga legend David Sifaayo, popularly known as Master Parrot (or Mr. Parrot). He passed away instantly on Monday evening, June 1, 2026, at the age of 47 after being struck by a speeding motorcycle while attempting to cross the Kampala Northern Bypass in the Masanafu/Busega area.

The Accident: Master Parrot was fatally hit around 8:00 PM while crossing the busy highway. Boda boda riders assisted police in retrieving his body, which was taken to the Mulago City Mortuary.
Musical Legacy: He rose to prominent fame in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He was an early pioneer of modern Ugandan pop, widely recognized for his time with Bobi Wine's Firebase Crew and Jose Chameleone's Leone Island.
Signature Hits: He cemented his household status with timeless high-energy tracks, most notably "Muliro" and "Ekikompola".
Personal Struggles: In recent years, the artist stepped away from the spotlight while battling severe alcohol dependency and mental health challenges. Fellow industry figures had recently tried mobilizing interventions to help him recover.
