Government plans to set up Ebola treaatment facilities in the DRC Congo.


 


This massive infrastructure push comes after the World Health Organization (WHO) designated the current Ebola Bundibugyo virus outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC). Because this specific strain lacks approved vaccines or targeted treatments, response strategies rely heavily on rapid field isolation and supportive care.

Uganda and Congo Interventions.

The Ugandan Ministry of Health is intervening directly within the DRC to establish a mobile treatment hub. 
Location: Ituri Province, Eastern DRC.
Objective: Contain the virus at its source and prevent further cross-border importation into Uganda, which has already registered cases in Kampala.
Context: The number of active contacts under tracking has sharply risen to 580, threatening a larger regional outbreak.
