Public Health Concerns: The withdrawal follows a recent Ebola outbreak in the country, after the Ministry of Health confirmed new cases in Kampala.
Venue Change: The tournament was originally scheduled to take place at the newly constructed Hoima City Stadium (Hoima City Arena).
New Host Country: FIBA Africa has officially relocated the regional youth tournament to Egypt.
Updated Dates: The tournament will now be played from June 10 to June 15, 2026 (shifted slightly from the original June 14–20 schedule).

Following the relocation, FUBA President Nasser Sserunjogi confirmed that Uganda has pulled out of the qualifiers, resulting in contrasting situations for the youth teams:
U18 Boys' Team: They are completely knocked out of the tournament cycle because they needed to compete in these Zone V qualifiers to earn a ticket to the main continental championship, but cannot travel due to logistical constraints.
U18 Girls' Team: They remain unaffected competitively as they had already qualified automatically for the main AfroBasket Championship in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, based on their semifinal finish in the previous edition.
