Uganda projects its economy to grow by a historic 10.2% in the 2026/27 financial year. Finance Minister Henry Musasizi announced that the commencement of commercial oil production, combined with strong export performance and ongoing industrialization, will drive this double-digit expansion.

The Oil Boom: Scheduled to begin pumping oil later this calendar year, it will mark Uganda's first return to double-digit growth since the 1990s.

Industrialization Push: The 10.2% projection anchors the national strategy to transform Uganda into a $500 billion economy over the long term.

Infrastructure Support: Mega projects like the Kabalega International Airport have been prioritized to support petroleum operations and local commerce.

Export Growth: Total export revenues surged to $18.04 billion recently, aided by key products like gold, coffee, and manufactured goods.

Economists note that turning this resource extraction into broad Economic Growth and Development will require careful management to directly boost jobs and household incomes across the country.
